jaam ko jaam se takrao tho kuch chain pade

[if you once come close to my heart, then I will feel comforted
when you clink drink with drink(as in saying cheers), I will feel comforted]

2. baithe baithe tho har mauj se dil dehlega
badke toofan se takraao tho kuch chain pade

[if one sits (on the sea-shore), then one will obviously feel uneasy with every wave
only if one goes forward and confronts the storm, will one feel comforted]

3. jee ulajh tha haiN nagma-e-rangeen sunkar
geet ek dard bhara gaao tho kuch chain pade

[one feels at unease when listening to very flashy/colorful/loud songs
only if one sings a sentimental song does one feel comforted]

4. 'daagh' ke sher jawaani meiN bhale lagthe haiN
'mir' ki koi ghazal gaao tho kuch chain pade

['daagh's' poetry, one may feel, is good when one is young
only if you sing some 'mir's' ghazal will one feel comforted]

5. yaad-e-ayaa mein guzishtan se ijaazat lekar
'tarz' kuch der ko so jaao tho kuch chain pade

[after taking permission from the thoughts of your past
'tarz' if you could sleep for some time, i will feel comforted]
